The Power Of Music: A Wild Experience

Back in 2023, on Christmas, I realized how powerful music truly can be for helping to improve our overall mood. I was introduced to music by Enya, an Irish artist, and the numerous layers of vocals, together with the instrumentation, resulted in this music drastically changing my life in a very positive way. Difficult situations have come up and it's been easier to navigate those. More recently, I was introduced to some instrumental music, which has also helped a ton as well. This kind of music sends chills throughout my entire body and it keeps me feeling very calm.

A Powerful Experience

I was listening to Enya music as I usually do, specifically her Amarantine album. Once it had finished, I felt better although I still knew I needed to do more before I would feel completely better. I felt this urge to sit outside and listen to more music so I did. I listened to Enya's Dark Sky Island album which helped a lot. It was while listening to a song on this album that crazy things happened. During the 12th song on that album, Solace, I was feeling really calm, and I was able to take in everything around me, and I was feeling very calm by this point. At the end of the song, there happened to be an airplane flying overhead, and the pitch of the airplane's engine happened to be in the same key as the song, which added to the experience. I then listened to this song next, and as the melodies and instrumentation became louder, so too did the birds outside. In my head, I could hear friends telling me to, "Focus on the birds, take in what's around you." "You will be ok." And I was absolutely immersed in the experience and I hadn't really experienced anything like this before. I had experienced things while listening to music that calmed me, but this time was different. The music transported me to a whole other world, and it's really hard to put it in words what this was like. Basically the music and the outside ambiance was all I could notice, and all of it created this amazing atmosphere. It may have also been the fact that so many things were perfectly timed. I was able to focus on everything so clearly, and I was so relaxed by this point. Prior to this I had been feeling very anxious so this helped a great deal, and I realized even more than I already did, that there is absolutely something to listening to music while sitting outside. Plus, music has helped me learn how to process things and has helped me work through difficult situations so much more easily. The reason it works for me is because there are different songs for different moods, so I can always find something to help me through whatever I'm feeling. By the time I was finished, I felt so much more calm and relaxed, and I truly think this taught me something about myself and what works to help me in difficult situations. And in the winter, when it's too cold to sit outside, I can go to another room to do this.

Final Thoughts

I wanted to share this experience in case others may be interested to hear about it.

And the other thing that helps a lot as well is having people who are supportive. I think it's super important for people to have a support system, as I think that's also extremely helpful.

I wanted to blog about my interest in music and the numerous ways it has been immensely helpful for me. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments.
